English summary: How did Darwin's Theory of Evolution situate itself in the context of the culture of the modern period? The contributors to this volume concern themselves with the history and meaning of the theory of evolution in the human sciences because here the aspects of natural and cultural theories of evolution correlated with each other. Coming for various perspectives, including evolutionary biology, philosophical anthropology, moral philosophy, psychology, ethnology and theology, the authors elucidate the facets of the evolutionary concept but the authors do not, from the beginning, present a unified perspective on the development of humanity. The studies offer, however, together with a variety of themes and methods and critically assess the boundaries of their respective fields. German description: Wie lasst sich Darwins Evolutionstheorie im Kontext der Kultur der Moderne verorten? Die Beitrager dieses Bandes widmen sich der Geschichte und Bedeutung der Evolutionstheorie fuer die Humanwissenschaften, da hier Aspekte der natur- und kulturwissenschaftlichen Entwicklungslehre miteinander verschrankt auftreten. Aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven, etwa der Evolutionsbiologie, der Philosophischen Anthropologie und Moralphilosophie, der Psychologie, der Ethnologie und der Theologie, erlautern die Autoren Facetten des evolutionaren Konzepts.Doch geht es ihnen nicht um die Eroffnung einer einheitlichen Perspektive auf die Entwicklung des Menschen; wohl aber bieten die Beitrage gemeinsam mit einer Themenvielfalt auch eine Methodenvielfalt an und reflektieren kritisch auch die Grenzen der jeweiligen Fachgebiete.
