This unique book contains reviews by leading experts in areas which Prof. Chandrasekhar pioneered, as well as a historical perspective, a biographical portrait and personal reminiscences. The reviews, which first appeared in the Bulletin of the Astronomical Society of India, include papers presented by scholars at the Chandrasekhar Centennial Symposium held in the University of Chicago on 15–17 October 2010, and some additional reviews by other distinguished astrophysicists covering topics not represented at the conference.
